The much anticipated KXLU Sessions are, from what I hear, nearing completion. Pretty soon, Parklights will be able to compile their recorded material into a number on Grammy winning album. Stay Tuned.

Next Thursday May 29th, The Modlins and The Hard To Get will rock The Scene Bar in Glendale for a benefit concert for an ALC scholarship fund. joining us that night is another great band from LA called The Black Kites. i've read a little interview with them on the RadioFreeSilverLake blog, and they seem pretty awesome ... plus there's still one more band to be announced, don't miss it ... details below ....

haven't been keeping up on the modlins and all their san diego escapades? wondering what's up?

in case you haven't been checking our With Friends Like These Blog ... let's see .... we're doing a Spring Tour w/ The Roman Spring out to Tucson, Phoenix, Las Vegas and Albuquerque. we're playing at the Museum of Contemporary Art, La Jolla, UCSD's SunGod Festival, plenty of local radio play, a TV performance, track on a SD Compilation and a Free Casbah show.

what? couldn't care less? only care about cool LA bands? well, we're also playing with your hometown favs The Happy Hollows down here at the Beauty Bar in June. Suck it Trebek!!!

The Modlins opening for British Sea Power @ Casbah 2/25

if any of you LA folk are interested in making the midweek trek down, The Modlins are opening for British Sea Power at the Casbah on monday Feb 25th. Part of fm 94/9's "Anti-Monday League". 21+, 9pm. tixs are $12 in advance, $14 at the door. you can buy em here. Should be a sweet show.

In case people were wondering, "Hey...why hasn't Parklights been playing shows? Their fan base is large enough for this to be a concern. I feel that they are letting a lot of people down by closing out their adoring followers," then don't you worry. We are currently in the process of recording hot new tracks designed to amaze. We should be done well before spring. After that, we belong to the people again.

Eux Autres is from Portland, and had their first CD recorded by a little known band from the Northwest as well, Sleater Kinney. in short, i can't think of anything that could top that night at the Lounge in Silverlake.

Henry Clay and Swim Party have both been getting much love from the blog scene in their respective cities, and anytime we play the Silverlake lounge it's a guaranteed party. the Joaniemen is the other project of members of The Ex-friends, Matt Curreri's band. the Joaniemen is the Joanie Mendenhall fronted version. you might also notice Ray Suen (violinist extraordinaire) as the new member of Louis XIV. what can i say, he's a cool kid.

Spanish Archer Night At The Gig

The Modlins and Sons and Lovers will be playing Next Sunday (10/7) at The Gig in Hollywood. with support from Hot TV and Gagging Lolly.

The Parklights Play Hometown Gig

The Parklights played a surprise show Tuesday night, at local Santa Monica shit hole, O'Brien's Pub. The show was a great success considering all the songs were newly rehearsed only hours before the gig. Yes.

Radio Play - Multiple Plays - Can I get some play?

I remember the fumbling awkwardness of middle school. 8th grade in particular. I remember scamming, where one would get some play and maybe ask her if she wanted "to go out with me." Well Sons and Lovers and Debate Team are back in middle school getting some serious play. Mark Sovel is scamming with these guys, all up on there necks and shit. You should check both of these artists out. There info is around here somewhere.

Cosmo Speedway - Radio Play

On Monday, 91X's Loudspeaker - San Diego Local Radio, Cosmo Speedway's track "Swiss Alps Over San Diego" was played shortly after 2AM just before his cohort and often time collaborator, Wilderness Survival Guide's "Striplings" was played. This is very exciting news. Cosmo Speedway and Wilderness Survival Guide have been two of San Diego's under-the-radar pop-prodigal sons who have yet to return and take what is rightfully theirs.


Spanish Archer is seriously thinking about re-locating to San Diego because it's just a great deal hipper down there.

Modlins - Radio play

Sophie 103.7, a radio station in San Diego is featuring The Modlins as part of their unsigned bands show. They played "For Goodness Sake" (available on the comp) yesterday afternoon. Go to the site to vote for the best Spanish Archer band in matching brown suits (That'd be the Modlins in case you are confused).
